Letters of Recommendation
Show Jumping since 2020 has been one of the greatest things of my life and a lot of that has to do with the great people who are a part of it.
Jill Pelzel
My name is Jill Pelzel. I am owner/trainer at Fall River Farm in Fort Lupton, Colorado. I have been riding and teaching for more than 25 years, as well as coaching 2 IHSA teams for 11 years. I have had the pleasure of teaching Gretel the last several years and watching her grow as a rider. She is also a working student in my program. Gretel is hard-working, motivated, and kind. She is very coachable and is always willing to try new things. She takes care of her own horses at the shows, is a team player for our IEA team, and a mentor to the younger girls in our barn. She will be an asset to any barn family!

To whom it may concern, It is my genuine pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Gretel Demartin for the MKR grant and I cannot think of rider more deserving. Gretel is a long standing active member of CHJA who is always lending a hand and volunteering her service. I have had the privilege of coaching Gretel in our competitive Equestrian Hunter Jumper team. and I have watched Gretel develop into a remarkably talented athlete, student and leader. Gretel Is a person of high integrity, character and compassion who truly puts the needs of others before herself. As a rider, Gretel is an incredibly quick learner. Gretel is fearless and focused. She hasn’t had the easiest of pathways in this sport and the hard knocks have only made her stronger and given her a deep base of quiet determination. Gretel handles her horses and herself with serene patience and objective humility. Gretel’s spirit and attitude open doors and I believe given the right resources Gretel is poised for significant success at very high levels. Gretel is a leader in action and deed and she sets the standard of excellence and sportsmanship in our competitive Equestrian program. Her progress and growth in this sport is a testament to her incredible work ethic and fortitude. Gretel sets goals for all areas of her life and I see her work towards them in a measured and mature way. Gretel is never afraid of doing the hard work or the hard thing and she has been rewarded by the consistency of her performance. Gretel understands the need for continuous growth and evaluation and she takes the steps necessary to overcome challenges. Along side of her perseverance, Gretel ’s biggest asset is her heart. She is committed and cares deeply for her horses and her teammates and helps them become their best through listening, support and accountability. Gretel has a reputation of resilience and has built trust with her peers, family and community. Her commitment and compassion are evident in her actions and choices daily. Gretel models compassion and responsible stewardship and extraordinary discipline. Gretel pushes through obstacles and handles her successes with humility and grace. Gretel is the type of student who draws out the very best in her teachers and coaches and is a delight to have in our program. Gretel ’s future is incredibly bright Please feel free to reach out if I can provide more information or be of further assistance.
